USIP
Why ?
Psychiatric intensive care units are highly specialized services for individuals with acute mental health conditions who require rapid assessment and stabilization through active engagement and intensive treatment. These individuals often have reduced self-control, which is associated with an increased risk to themselves or others.
As part of a larger project to transform mental health service delivery within its organization, the Integrated University Health and Social Services Centre (CIUSSS) of the Capitale-Nationale region identified the need to create a new psychiatric intensive care unit to better meet the needs of its population. To inform the planning and delivery of these new services, we co-designed a project to identify the clinical practices and organizational structures associated with effective, recovery-oriented psychiatric intensive care services.
